Hello, C.O.P.S. Chapter Board Members. The end of the year is rapidly approaching, and March annual meetings (required for all Chapters) and elections (for applicable Chapters*) are right around the corner. *The first page of the attached document "Chapter Elections" provides specific lists of each Chapter that is required to hold an election in March 2025, sorted by Region.
The second page of the "Chapter Elections" document gives a brief overview of the nomination/election process at a glance, but more specific information will be provided here.
In addition, we recommend reviewing National SOP 3.13, attached. If you have any questions, please contact us at the National Office.
The second page of the "Chapter Elections" document gives a brief overview of the nomination/election process at a glance, but more specific information will be provided here.
- All meetings require at least 30 days' advance written notice to Chapter membership, either via mail and/or by email.
- Nominations take place at the Business Meeting prior to the March Annual Meeting.
- Anyone wishing to be nominated for an elected position must be present at the Business Meeting prior to the March Annual Meeting. To be present is defined as in person at the meeting location, or remotely via a video conferencing platform such as Zoom, Google Meets, Skype, etc. unless absence is pre-approved by the C.O.P.S. National President or C.O.P.S. Executive Director.
- To be eligible to vote, one must be registered in the National database with the Chapter as a member no less than 30 days prior to any vote being cast and be at least 18 years of age. (A report listing all eligible voting members for your Chapter can be provided upon specific request from the NCL at National. It is suggested that any such request be made at least 45 days in advance of the vote, to allow time to address any discrepancies or corrections needed before that 30-day window closes.)
In addition, we recommend reviewing National SOP 3.13, attached. If you have any questions, please contact us at the National Office.
We are always looking for those who would like the opportunity to get involved with the Central California Chapter of Concerns of Police Survivors. We will be looking for Fundraising ideas, future reimbursement options, party for survivors, and reaching more survivors.

Traumas of Law Enforcement
Each year, Concerns of Police Survivors (C.O.P.S.) provides training to Amerca’s law enforcement agencies on how to appropriately respond to officers and their families affected by line-of-duty traumas through the “Traumas of Law Enforcement” trainings. At these trainings, instructors will present information that is important to America’s law enforcement agencies regarding appropriate response to line-of-duty death, disability, critical incidents, and police suicide.
At the conclusion of this training, the participants will have information about:
1. How an agency’s response to tragedy directly affects the level of distress of their officers and surviving family members.
2. How an individual officer’s pre-planning may directly affect the public safety officer benefit their family may receive in the event of their line-of-duty death.
3. How an officer can successfully navigate the cumulative stress caused by experiencing critical incidents throughout a law enforcement career and how their agency can assist with this.
4. The warning signs and symptoms of police suicide.
All of the participants in this training will be provided information about the available federal public safety officer benefits and their individual state benefits.
Some of the same issues that affect survivors come into play for officers with disabilities and those coping with trauma. Recognizing the importance of helping agencies provide appropriate support for survivors and injured or traumatized officers, C.O.P.S. provides this training free of charge. HOWEVER, PRE-REGISTRATION IS MANDATORY and participants are responsible for their own travel costs.

Retreat Reimbursements To Be Considered
We are working to get funds for our chapter members attending these wonderful programs. The reimbursements will be considered once the attendee has completed the retreat program only. Once verified with the program organizers and the completed paperwork with proof of purchase submitted to the chapter, we will review for issuance of reimbursement. Each person needs to submit this request as soon as possible upon their return.
The process of distribution may take from 30-45 days upon receipt of the paperwork. We will be adding a form button to this site or you may request a form be sent to you via email very soon. We thank you for your cooperation and look forward to seeing and hearing of your amazing experiences at each of these retreats. Please feel free to submit pictures and any anecdote of your experience. Wishing you all a Bon Voyage! Did you know the CPOMF has a scholarship program?
